To enter a value, or a string of text
There is a single all-purpose input field in the upper half of the window beneath the tab: T-table.
If you are instructed, say, to enter $2
- click the input field and alter its contents to read: $2
- press Enter.
If you are instructed, say, to change the value of line {1} to 98.7
- select line {1}
…the entire line {1} becomes hilit, and its value appears in the input field - click the input field and alter its contents to read: 98.7
- press Enter.
To clear the input field (prior to typing new contents),
- double-click it
…the entire text within it becomes hilit - press the Backspace key [<--]
To change the unit of selected line, type [unit].
To change the description text of selected line, type 'string.
Another way to alter the value of a line
When building a t-table, a useful trick is to increase or decrease a given value by a small percentage. This gives you a feel for how sensitive a calculation is to its inputs.
If you are instructed, say, to increase the value of line {1} by 1%
- select line {1}
- click the tool addpc [±1%] to increase the value; (shift-click to decrease it).

The red part of a tool icon represents a direction or an extra feature you get with shift-click.
