Take the time to familiarize yourself with the documentation available from the J Help menu in the JQt IDE.
It is worthwhile to quickly browse through all the material so you'll know where to look when something comes up.

Wiki - The J Wiki is a treasure trove of information about J and many other array languages.

Vocabulary - NuVoc is the up to date comprehensive Vocabulary for J. It is also has the F1 function key as a short cut in the JQt environment.
Constants - A good reference for the variety of character and number types in J.
Control Structures - When you just have to revert to procedural programming.
Foreigns - So many Foreign Conjunctions to know.
Release Notes - The particular improvements and affordances for the version of J you are running.

Standard Library - The Standard Library that is loaded with J. Many useful verbs already written for you. If you prefer reinventing the wheel, then ignore it, but if you want a head start, take a look.
Window Driver - All that you need to know to develop interfaces in the JQt environment. If you are content with the ijx and ijs windows and are your own end user, then ignore it. If you want to build more complete applications and possibly provide them for other end users, then you need to spend time learning this stuff. The Qt Demos and the Showcase in the Studio section are invaluable in mastering the environment.

Studio

  • Labs - Gives you access to J's excellent interactive learning opportunities.
  • Advance - Short cut to advance the current lab: Ctrl-J (Cmd-J on a Mac).
  • Chapters - Larger labs can have many chapters and this allows you easier navigation.

  • Qt Demos - Demonstrations of the components of Qt, including source for each demo.

  • Showcase - Interactive examples of more complex Qt interfaces that have been built.

Context Sensitive - The Ctrl-F1 (Cmd-F1 on a Mac) will take you directly to the NuVoc page of any part of speech that is highlighted.
