Community Wiki vs HTML Publications

From J Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

J has been a stable environment for 30 years. It is a living language, but attention was always paid to backward compatibility, and there is a cautious attitude towards change focused on getting it right.

HTML docs are still valid and certainly valuable. But the language moves on, and it is no longer reasonable to have the HTML reflect the latest developments.

Community wiki dynamics are too compelling.

We have decided to freeze the HTML docs and all changes and new material will be in the wiki.

Users who want to get on with their work will use the wiki.

Users who want deeper understanding will use the wiki, but will occasionally go back to the gems that are the original material.
